You are correct it freezes at "Local Tun not coming up". Its an openvpn bug on win 8.1. However this has been fixed by openvpn....I'm sure TG will apply this fix in their next upgrade.....But till then just download and run any of the Tap Adapter below . "Run as Admin"

its weird. U havn't subscribe to the premium server or if u have, u have not activated it on their website yet. goto tunnelguru.com, login your account goto to client copy the voucher code, goto apply voucher paste the code and the security code and activate you'ii see voucher successfully applied message.

As for those complaining about speed...It think it has to do with locations....Some locations has better counter measures that try to slow down and in some cases constant disconnections of openvpn traffics...In areas with very high speed 3G this counter measures are not noticeable (explains why TG is faster at night)
This slow speed is not just a TG problem....its the same with all openvpn....its slow during day and fast at nights
You can try this.....Switch off & on data (data off & data on to 131) when it gets too slow............Also disconnect & reconnect modem anytime it gets too slow...........Keep switching btw IP to find the one that works best for you...........go to this folder TGv2.8.2.0_WIN_32Bit_Chameleon\misc\driver and right click 'install-RUN-AS-ADMIN' and select run as administrator..........Test your speed with http://whatismyipaddress.com/speed-test.......
Save you downloads for later at night.....

If you have already installed then you need to add java bin folder path in Windows PATH System variable.

Chris this is what it displays "Local TUN Interface not coming up !" then after sometime before coming up with Handshake error message that I reported earlier

Hi John thank you for the assistance but I still have an issue I downloaded and installed it but when I tried starting my TG it said that All the TAP 32 drivers are currently busy that I should stop any from the Task Manager, but unfortunately I searched for openvpnexe in my Task Manager I could not find it so I want to know if there is any other terms for it in the Task Manager
Hi Chris I upgraded today expecting a better browsing experience to my surprise it is far from it as I browse very well in the Demo though I do have issues of TUN not Turning up which a guy here named John D gave me a link through which i downloaded Tap driver after installation it recommended that I should stop openvpnexe from Task Manager I searched for it it is not there or i could not recognize it, may be it is listed with another term that could not understand so I uninstalled it but now the case is different it tells me Error Authentication that i may be using old version of TG or I logged in with wrong ID or Password. Please direct me what to do here to fix both the openvpnexe issue and this Error Authentication don't ignore this complain.
Don I had the same issue...others had same issue too...its common with win 8.1....openvpn fixed this by updating the tapadapter.....
Keypoints
1. a) When installing, you must use "RUN AS ADMINISTRATOR"
b) Try running TG
2 If the error still continues, go to 'open network & sharing center' ; 'change adapter settings' right click on Tap-windows Adapter v9....select properties....select configure....select advanced.....select media status and change to always connected
You did mention you had issues with authentication/version errors. Its possible that the files is corrupt...Delete the current TG folder you have and download a fresh copy from this top of this page....use copy and paste for your username and password to avoid spell errors....let me know if you still have issues

the present download speed is as a result a result of the ip which is been used:10.199.212.2/8080 if you can get ur create a private proxy that can work.then the speed will be ok and fast.the more people connect to that proxy the slower it becomes in latency.
This is currently working.
